He passed!

Phil passed his Journeyman Test! He is now a licensed Journeyman in the state of Colorado! Of course he will have to take it again when we go back to Missouri, but atleast he did it!

Seven Falls

We tried to go to Pike's Peak but when we got there we were only able to go 15 of the 19 mile trip. So we decided to go see Seven Fall's. For those of you who did not see my post from last May when Phil went by himself you can check it out in my archives. Pictures do not do it justice though. You all are going to have to come visit me before we move back to Missouri.

All the ice was very pretty. It was about 50 degrees when we were there, so it was a nice day.

There were a tin of fish. You can kind of see from the pic that the ice was pretty thick. The fish were swimming in circles and we read that they do that because it takes less energy and they get more oxygen in the winter time.

Morgan wanted to climb over the railings and play on the ice. He couldn't understand why we wouldn't let him!

The waterfalls were all frozen. They were so pretty, you could see the water running underneath the ice.

We finally made it to the top! I have been up 224 steps before but not when the angle was the steep! The boys were fine but Phil and I were definately out of breath!

Ava's Sweater

I found a really neat crochet program that I can input measurements and it will give me a pattern for any size and shape sweater I want! So I decided to test it and make Ava a cute little one button Cardigan. Here it is

I can't believe how big she has gotten! She will be 1 in a week and a half! Still no hair though!

Derek being silly!

I haven't blogged for awhile so I thought I would put up some pics of Derek making silly "cheese" faces. He can never get a smile right until you decide you're done taking pictures!

It has been warm this past weekend so we have been taking advantage of that and going to the park. Ava really wanted to get down but the snow had just melted and it was really wet.

Finally!

Finally! A video of Ava walking! For some reason our computer does not like the videos taken with our cameras so it has taken awhile to get this video up.

Yarn Organizer

I have been searching for a yarn organizer that is portable and will keep my kids from destroying the yarn and the project attached to it! I found one on ebay that holds 6 skeins of yarn with holes in the lid to pull the yarn through. It was really neat but it was also $26! Too much! So I searched some more and found a tutorial on how to make your own. Here is my Yarn Organizer!

First I bought a 5 gallon bucket at walmart, I would have liked to find a smaller bucket but this will do. I then picked 2 colors of scrapbooking paper, Mod Podge ( I used the gloss finish not the matte) and sponge brushes. Phil drilled 9 holes in the lid of the bucket for me. I cut two different sizes of circles and squares from the paper. I put the Mod Podge on the backs of the paper and stuck them where I wanted them on the bucket. Then I spread a thin layer of Mod Podge over the entire bucket.

I hung it up and let it dry for about 30 minutes or so.


I made a cardboad insert (temporary until I can make one that really fits) I put the four colors I use the most right now inside. This bucket is capable of holding up to 9 skeins of yarn.

Threaded the yarn through four of the wholes on the lid and closed it!


Voila! Now I have somewhere to put my yarn and when I am not using the yarn it can go back in the bucket and still be safe from curious hands! I can also use it as an end table! There are many uses for this.

My Word for 2009!

I am accepting the challenge on Tip Junkie to choose a word that will inspire me throughout the year.

The word I have chosen is Challenge! I am going to challenge myself to do things that I otherwise wouldn't do. Things that I look at and think, "that looks way too hard". I will say YES to every challenge and obstacle that comes my way and hope that at the end of the year I can look back and have no regrets!
