First Day of School!!!!!
Phil woke him up at 5 am to take a shower, eat and get dressed. Morgan woke me up at 6am and asked if it was time to go?! The sun wasn't even up yet! I am not cut out for school! I got up anyway. I decided I wanted to make pancakes to give Morgan a good meal before he left for the whole day, but he said he already ate cereal with Daddy! Thanks Daddy.
Before Phil left for work I took a picture of them together! Aren't they cute?!
This is the front of the school. Yes, the pillars are crayons!.jpg)
This is in front of his class! He was so excited that he went into the classroom before it was time to go in!

He found his name right away, hung up his backpack and coat and never looked back to see if I was there! I made him give me a hug and then he told me I could leave! Love you son!

Golden Spike and Rockets!
Morgan took this picture! I think I will be getting him his own camera.
We arrived just in time to see the reenactment of the May 10, 1869 ceremony! The kids were more interested in the Locomotives than the historical side of the ceremony. It was really fun though!
This engine was wood burning and the engine that we are standing in front of below is coal burning. A coal burning engine was able to go 100 miles before refilling and the wood burning engine was only able to go 30 mile. Also, the reason that the tracks were not put through major cities was because of lack of water. They had to have a 2000 gallon tank filled with water every 30 miles! That is why the tracks followed rivers and lakes.
There were several activities going on as well, Derek was the most adventurous of the kids so he and I did them together.
The first activity was called "Buffalo chip tossing"! Derek threw his 7 feet! I threw mine 65 feet! Luckily they had gloves to wear or else I never would have done it!
The next activity was "Fire stoking contest" Derek had a great time doing this. Everyone was cheering him on so he was smiling the whole time!
After that we went inside and looked at some of the exhibits they had about railroad history.
There was a table set up with the reenactment made out of Legos!
There was a booth set up with flyers and coloring pages about train safety. The kids had fun with the hats!
As we were about to leave, Phil turned the key to the van and the battery had died! Luckily a park ranger had a jump box and we were on our way to see the Rocket display!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a rocket display at ATK. An Aerospace and Defense company. Derek thought he was actually going to get to fly into space like Buzz Lightyear! He was disappointed when we got back into the van.
This particular rocket piece had not way of keeping people from getting inside! We of course did not go inside as you could tell someone had already been in there
This was a fun adventure!
