Singin' and dancin'!

Recently I purchased the movie Hairspray, and today Morgan asked to watch it. As soon as they started singing he was up singing and dancing right along with them! Trying to copy their moves and everything. When Phil got home we were making dinner and Morgan comes into the kitchen and started singing: "oh, oh, oh, look at my hair" over and over again! It was so funny. I think I need to try and have my video camera accessible at all times.

To Schedule or not to schedule?

I have been thinking of making a schedule and trying to stick to it. I hate schedules because they seem so restricting but I am finding myself spending more and more of my time on things that aren't that important. I am hoping that having a schedule will help my children become easier to handle if they know exactly when breakfast, lunch, dinner and all the snack times in between are (my kids LOVE food). I am also hoping that it will just make things easier for me if I know that at 1:30 I will be folding laundry so then I can just put it out of my mind until then. We will see how well it goes. I will report on my progress on Sunday.

Circus Act?

I decided to go to our local grocery store and check out their sales for some meals I am preparing for the next week. Of course it being Saturday Phil was supposed to be home but alas he had to go to work. So I pack all the kids in and we head out. Thankfully the weather is great and the snow is melting. We get there and the leashes come out and we are all headed in to the store. We get the cart that has a car and two steering wheels, so the boys go there Ava up front with me and Franklin's car seat sideways across the cart. Here we go....walking down the aisle both boys hanging out the sides of the car me, telling them to get back in, not because THEY will get hurt but someone else might get hurt by them! I walk past this lady who is on her cell phone talking, she sees me and I can see her mentally counting! I am thinking - There's only 4! Come on! - we walk around the other side and she follows me with her husband, at first I think she wants to see the adorable 5 week old baby I have and instead all she says is: Wow, you have your hands full! I know I shouldn't be shocked or speechless anymore with what people say but, oh my goodness. I guess growing up in a large family 4 just doesn't seem like alot to me. Anyway, I felt like we were being looked at and pointed at like we were a circus act. Sometimes I don't mind. Like today, mostly because they were all being pretty good. But there are those days when one runs off, the other wants to follow but is pulled back by his leash and the girl in the family just wants to boss everyone around all while I am just trying to check out with the groceries, and keep the baby from screaming too loudly! I love my life!

My word for 2010!

There are alot of blogs on the internet putting up words that will hopefully help them throughout this new year. Sometimes they do sometimes they become just words and are forgotten after a couple months. Which is the way it goes in my case for most years. This year I decided to pick a word that was only two letters. The reason for this is for the last year and probably before that I have been asked too many times to count "How I do it". How do I do what? Take care of 4 children ages 4 and under! How do I clean my car? How do I get dressed in the morning? and so on. To all of these questions I have always replied, "I just DO". So my word for 2010 will be DO. I will DO whatever I want, I will DO what needs to be done, I will DO what the Lord asks me to do, and so on. The list for things I will DO is endless. What will you DO for yourself and your family this year?

Pictures

I tried to get him to smile but I think the cheeks were just too much for him!

Ava really likes having her picture taken.

Again trying to get a good picture to put in his baby announcement!

Derek is showing off his baby Moses and the basket form his very first Sunbeam lesson! Time flies so fast!

Having a lazy Sunday nap with Daddy

This was the first time he really had his eyes open.

Ava is definitely a cuddler
This was taken right after his first bath.

First time he caught his thumb!

He Smiles!

Franklin smiled at me for the first time today. It wasn't the over the shoulder kind of smile that you pretend was for you either. It was a real smile at me! As soon as I can I will try to get a picture up for all to see!

This little piggy....

Just wanted to share some fun happenings. Phil has been helping Morgan and Derek learn to count to ten! Derek is doing really well but Morgan is having a hard time concentrating. So they started counting toes and "piggy's". You can tell by the way he started that we have been shopping way too much! This is how he started: "This little piggy went to Target!"

I hate how blogger is putting these picture backwards! Oh well. If you want to see them in order start at the bottom of the post!

Not very happy about being strapped in the car seat!

Just before leaving the hospital wrapped in his quilt I made for him!

Worry face

Wide eyed and looking around

Phil followed him to the nursery and took this adorable picture!

He's here!

Franklin Harris Palmer was born on December 4, 2009 at 7:27 pm. He weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and is 20 in. long! As an added bonus he was born with hair! He has more hair than Ava and she will be 2 in February! I hope it doesn't all fall out.

My doctor also allowed Phil to deliver him! It was really neat and I wish we had gotten a picture of Phil in his scrubs but Franklin was coming too fast.

We didn't get many pictures while in the hospital, one because Phil takes the pictures because I am getting rest and he was not able to be there for more than a total of 3 hours after Franklin was born. Two, Phil forgot the extra batteries and all the cameras died! So you will have to be content with this one picture until we get some more!
